Welcome young people and families! This progressive youth ministry serves Junior High and High School age teens and their families. Our thriving youth ministry at Federated exists to support youth to become people of service, compassion, and open-mindedness . Young people are encouraged to model the life of Jesus Christ as they learn how to seek and experience God in their everyday lives.

Our youth ministry strives to support young people to:

  • Foster community and make friends
  • Prepare to serve in the community and in the world
  • Celebrate and embrace difference
  • Uncover spiritual gifts
  • Learn more about Christianity

We engage in weekly youth group activities that typically include fun games and projects, sharing about school and life, and learning about our faith. Also, youth have participated in service projects in Mexico and various locations on the West Coast. All youth are welcome to participate in this inclusive group of young people!

Ongoing Fundraisers and Service Projects

Fundraisers

First Sunday Breakfasts: Second Sunday Breakfasts occur every first Sunday of the month between the worship services from 10:15-11:00. The youth group and families make trays of quiche, muffins, fruit slices, juice and coffee and serve them to church members and visitors in Price Hall. This is a time of fellowship and also a fundraiser for the youth mission trips. You are invited to join us for these mornings of quiche and conversation and know that your donations will go to a great cause ~ youth on service trips having a chance to experience the life changing act of service and Christian Community in the midst of another culture.

Service Projects and Trips

Senior High Winter Retreat: The purpose of the senior high retreat is to practice fellowship, enjoy the company of peers and group leaders, and continue to deepen young peoples' understanding of Christian discipleship. Typically occuring on the weekend of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, we also spend time exploring the social justice roots of Christianity and how we can engage social justice acts everyday. Not only do we spend time in discussion and fellowship, we also have the opportunity to explore a different part of California, play in the snow, and "get real" within a community of care.

Alternative Spring Break, Mexico Service Trip: Partnering with the Brentwood Presbyterian Church's youth group in Los Angeles and Amor Ministries (www.amor.org), young people and adult volunteers head down to Mexico to help build homes for poor families during the week of Spring Break. This is an opportunity for young people to put into practice service and generosity. It is also an opportunity for folks to travel outside of the United States and experience a different cultural reality.

Sierra Service Project: Federated young people and adult volunteers have partnered with the Sierra Service Project (www.sierraserviceproject.org) for a number of years. Each summer, youth group members and other church youth have the chance to travel to various sites in Oregon, California, Nevada, and Arizona to help build homes and build communities. No construction experience is needed. Volunteers are equipped with support to work on roofing, drywall repairs, and painting and a number of other areas.
